Shopping

I love helpful shopassistants! Today I took the kids shopping in Perth. We were in a clothing shop and I asked a saleslady for some help finding some pants for Cody. Her response: "In this shop?" .....ummmm.....that's why we're here isn't it?? Anyway, our day did end up rather successful.

BRONZE MEDALLION

CONGRATULATIONS MARG!!!
Well, with an achievement of this magnitude I guess I'm allowed to extend my own congratulations. We did it!! Today all 9 of us teachers and mums passed our final bronze medallion tests. For those of you who don't know what this means, let me give you a run down of our gruelling 4 hours:
First we did our 400 metre swim; 100m each of freestyle, survival backstroke, sidestroke and breaststroke. I did it in 10 min and 20 sec!! (We had to do it in under 13 minutes)
Then we had to do 2 different initiatives where we have 2 victims in the water in 2 scenarios needing to be rescued. We needed to get both in within 3 minutes. Yeah, I did that one.
We had to demonstrate our 2 spinal rescues.
The last thing in the water was a 50 metre tow where we had to swim 50 metres to our "victim" and then tow him back (so altogether another 100 m swim) all within 3 minutes.
Then there were 2 scenarios to deal with for our resuscitation section although I didn't have to do that because I just got my first aid certificate a few weeks ago. (First First Aid Course i've done since 1987!)
And finally a written exam...well, it was just 25 multiple choice questions.

Wow it feels good saying I DID IT!!!!

Rainy Day

Last week Saturday it rained for 7 hours straight. This awesome event made the news...we love the rain!!

Anyway, the kids decided to amuse themselves with some wacky hairdos and making beanbag creatures. I love it when they let their imaginations run...

Brett our Artist

Brett, the intrepid artist, off to a start on his fledgling career. Go Brett go.

Don't you think this is a great robot? Brett even does a robot impression by saying Beep, beep, oww, loudly and then beep, beep, very softly until his head drops down. He's such a character!!

This picture it's just stopped raining and so you see the rainbow and water drops on everything.

Brett loves to watch "Trotro" on TV and learns how to draw all sorts of things.

Last week Cody (he's 14 and in year9) had an english assignment due which included drawing 8 scenarios from a book they had read in class. Well, Brett (he's 6 and in grade 1) drew a few of the pictures for him because he's a better artist than Cody!!

Sick kids

Help, my kids are dropping like flies!! On Easter weekend Brett was very sick with high temperatures and a sore throat and headaches. (by the way, I'm just waiting for photos before I post something about our wonderful Easter weekend!!). By Tuesday his temp was gone but he broke out in a strange rash....he's his bubbly self but now his fingers are all peeling (gross!!), and his neck glands are swollen and tender. He thinks it's most exciting that we're going to try and see a doctor tomorrow. Yesterday Brooke had a headache, temperature and sore throat (she's feeling much better today and will hopefully go back to school tomorrow)....today I went to put Travis to bed but he felt hot so I took his temp and it's 38.5!! He's not complaining or anything!! And now Wade is complaining of a sore throat and his temp's 38.1!!! Anyone want to swap kids with me for a while???

Brett's Career Choice

Brett would like to be a brain surgeon when he's grown up so he can shove rocks in peoples ears, and push them up, to give them brains. Hmmmmm. Yes, we had an interesting dinner table conversation tonight. He also believes the lady in our congregation who is missing a leg (she had a car accident years ago) was walking along one day when all of a sudden, poof, it disappeared; all vigorously explained with his fingers walking along the table and suddenly 1 doesn't appear any more!! Lastly but not least, he believes he was bought at Kmart because he was too big to fit on the shelf!!
We're looking for a family counsellor....
