Sports Day 2009

While Tyler was with us, the primary school had their annual sports day. I managed to stay for the morning and got to see most of the kids individual events. Even Travis got to participate this year.

At the end of the day, blue won, orange came second (well done, Brooke), gold came third and red came last, although Brett and Travis both put in great efforts!! Travis even got a certificate for making a new school record in high jump! Brett was a little annoyed that he couldn't keep jumping. They were running a little late, and so when he was the last man standing, they finished, rather than letting him try to beat the school record. A great job done for Brett in the high jump as well.

Tyler comes to Visit

October 28th til November 5th we had the priviledge of looking after Tyler while Helen and Mick went to Bali for a much needed holiday. We had so much fun with him - he gives out fantastic hugs and adopted us as his family straight away!! He has the cutest grin, with a great twinkle of mischief in his eyes. He would run up to Travis to give him a hug and just wrap his legs around him so poor Travis stumbles around because of Tyler's weight. He's not a little boy!!! He was also a real grease monkey while he stayed here as he had just started treatment for his exzema and needed 2 tubes of cortisone cream rubbed on him throughout the day. Left lots of greasy footprints and handprints everywhere!! A realy slippery little sucker he was!!
Here are a few photos of his time with us:

Tyler's come to play!

He sure loved lunch times!! What a mess!!

Cream time and shower time

Hugs... and fast asleep-there were some times of peace!!

It sure was great looking after him; very rewarding, especially knowing Helen and Mick could have such a fantastic holiday and not worry about their little ratbag. Can't wait 'til you go again, guys....we'll look after Tyler any time!

Time Flies

I can't believe we're halfway through November already and my last update was at the end of the school holidays.... So now I have lots to post about and too little time to do it in.... So I'll just do what I should do and start at the very beginning....

Fishing at WhiteHills
After the holidays the boys didn't want their holidays to finish so Dave took Brett and Cody to Whitehills to do some fishing. Although they didn't actually catch any fish, they had a great time playing in the sand and surf...

Christina's Kitchen Tea
October 21st we had a Tupperware Kitchen Tea for Christina. The tupperware lady was really good and kept a low profile so we could all have fun playing some games and just socialising. We made a really yummy toblerone fruit dip... yum, yum!! And played a silly game of guessing the Australian or Canadian word - and having to dressup in all sorts of apparel to get the "right" to give the answer. Thanks Lisa, for your input!! Some of our competitive natures sure came to the front! We also tied us all in a knot and had to unknot the group. That was fun; you always have some who think it will never work, others who take charge and do what needs to be done, and some just coming along for a free ride. Mum had scavenged some of Christina's doodling- Christina and Tyson - and we stuck that up and also got some lovely red and white helium balloons. The upstairs playroom was really transformed into a fancy party room. At the end of the night, Chris has plenty of tupperware to start off her kitchen - hope she can find a way to keep her tupperware cupboard tidy!!!

Isn't her necklace just gorgeous??!!

All tied up in a knot!!

Post tenebras Lux
Each year the year 11's do a play of some sort for their English course. This year they did a play on John Calvin called Post Tenebras Lux, written by their English teacher (GH). Because they needed more actors than they had for the play, the year 10 English Wizz students were volunteered their services and so Cody became involved in the production. He was chosen for the position of Court Jester, something that suited Cody to a tee. They had 2 perfomances on Saturday, October 24th and the play, although a little long, was excellent. The day before, Gerry had given Cody a hoop and told him to do something funny with that while juggling balls. Of course you always get the unexpected, and Cody provided some light entertainment to an otherwise rather serious production. The kids did remarkably well; John Calvin did a fantastic job in his acting - great credit to all those involved. All their many hours of practicing and all the sewing involved for their costumes were well worth it!!

Dad turns 65
The next day, October 25th, Dave's dad turned 65. Quite the milestone, meaning lots of changes to mum and dad's lives. They have both retired now, and are busy renovating their house and planning a trip around Oz. We spent a lovely day with them celebrating.
