Helpful children!

Brett is hard at work, frying mince for dinner. And Travis is doing his bit, trying to raid the pantry in his fireman hat's disguise. Sneaky, sneaky!!

Sorry, this is a little too technical for me! I think I did something wrong!!!

Travis likes to keep up with his siblings and so he's attempting to rollerskate....with lots of protective gear to keep him safe!!

Sunday news

Well, today we were told by Nick that the doctors confirmed their suspicions that Amryn (their little 2 week old baby) also has mitochondrial disease. Our hearts and prayers go out to them, knowing God has given them a very difficult path to travel. But we do not despair because we know that Amryn is also in God's care and that not a hair can fall from her head without His will. We belong in body and soul to our faithful Saviour.

Election Weekend

Yesterday we were down at Dren and JB's to help JB in his bid to run as a candidate for the Christian Democrat Party in his electorate. Being election day Dave and JB travelled over 400 kms to help out the polling booths, making sure they were well equipped and having no issues. Dren and I (and mum and Chris) kept the homefront in order and manned the Capel polling booth for a few hours. It was a really enjoyable day, although Dren and JB are exhausted from their pre election weeks, working up to the final day. Unfortunately (in our eyes) the Labour government got in. (we would've preferred to see the Liberals in again) but we do know that governments are set in place by God. We pray we may continue to have the religious freedoms that we have always enjoyed (and maybe taken too much for granted!!) JB got nearly 1500 votes, which was better than last year, so that's a positive result.

More camp photos

We had lots of possums running around at night, as well as little bats, and kangaroos during the day.
Wade met a few good friends. For those of you who don't know, he's the one in the middle of the buddies.
Here's Wade jumping backwards into the dam. (He's never done anything normal!!) Notice the "rafts" that didn't make it in the background!!

Cody's Birthday

On Saturday, November 10th we celebrated Cody's 14th birthday. Wow, I can't believe he's 14 already! What a rich blessing God has given to us! On the Friday evening he had 9 friends over and we had an awesome party. First we took them to the beach to do some kayak races and a sandcastle building competion, and then back home for some dinner; spaghetti with no utensils was a huge hit with the boys!! go figure!; and some more team building games, and of course jelly for dessert with no utensils, no hands allowed. What's with boys and loving grubby stuff. The boys were kept busy the whole time but had a really good time co-operating together. They played a few races, one where each team had 2 pillow cases and had to use them as stepping stones to get the whole team from the starting line to the finish line, and another where each team member had to be carried across to the other side. They all worked well together. It was fantastic seeing Cody's group of friends (some I hadn't met before!!) having fun...they're a really nice bunch of kids.

Year 6 Camp

Year 6 camp 2007

Last week I spent the week at the year 6 camp as a camp cook. Between 3 of us we had to feed 64 kids and 10 adults breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as morning, afternoon and evening tea! Wow, I don't think I've ever worked so hard in my life!! We were flat out from 6:30 in the morning until 11 or 12 in the evening. And after that, we would spend a bit of time relaxing with the other adults. Yup, I'm still catching up on my sleep this week. But wow, camp was an absolute blast!!
The idea is that the kids get to know eachother from all 5 of our schools, before they start middle school all together next year, making the transition from primary to middle school a little less daunting. The kids really enjoyed their week and were kept busy from morning 'til late with all sorts of activities. On Monday we survived a 40 degrees plus day. We spent as much time as we could arranging and rearranging the big walk in fridge!! During the week, the kids did things like archery, a confidence course, a lowropes course, a blind trail, and a huge flying fox. (I even managed to get a turn on that one. What a buzz, flying across the valley, above all the trees!!) On Thursday we went to Adventure world for a day, which is an amusement park with lots of different water slides, and other rides that the kids really enjoyed. The evenings were spent being entertained (one evening they had a band up, and all the kids got to sing some silly song. Meagan had a ball with her group of friends.

They also did a rafting excercise where each team were given some logs, bottles and string and had to build a raft and swim their team to the island to find the hidden treasure. Wade's team worked together really well, and won. Well, actually, their's was the only raft that made it to the island in one piece!!

The kids made new friends and have many great memories to take with them into middle school.

Sorry, I'm having a few photo issues, like I said, you'll just have to be patient with me.

Til next time...Marg
