BRONZE MEDALLION

CONGRATULATIONS MARG!!!
Well, with an achievement of this magnitude I guess I'm allowed to extend my own congratulations. We did it!! Today all 9 of us teachers and mums passed our final bronze medallion tests. For those of you who don't know what this means, let me give you a run down of our gruelling 4 hours:
First we did our 400 metre swim; 100m each of freestyle, survival backstroke, sidestroke and breaststroke. I did it in 10 min and 20 sec!! (We had to do it in under 13 minutes)
Then we had to do 2 different initiatives where we have 2 victims in the water in 2 scenarios needing to be rescued. We needed to get both in within 3 minutes. Yeah, I did that one.
We had to demonstrate our 2 spinal rescues.
The last thing in the water was a 50 metre tow where we had to swim 50 metres to our "victim" and then tow him back (so altogether another 100 m swim) all within 3 minutes.
Then there were 2 scenarios to deal with for our resuscitation section although I didn't have to do that because I just got my first aid certificate a few weeks ago. (First First Aid Course i've done since 1987!)
And finally a written exam...well, it was just 25 multiple choice questions.

Wow it feels good saying I DID IT!!!!

Congratulations
I know who to call when I am in trouble in the water although being on the other side of the world that would be hard. (lol)
Just started reading your blog not long ago. Wow your kids have really grown up.
Take care Karen DeJonge

Congrats Marg !! At least you can swim, I need to improve on my mean dog paddle lol.

Sounds like you'll be booked up for every excursion involving water from now on.

Cheers, Connie
