Brooke's Graduation and End of Year

At the end of the school year, Brooke graduated from year 6. Another one of our brood ready to fly the coop and travel to Armadale for Middle School and High School.

Auntie Christina helped make her day special by making her hair all pretty.

The 4 graduating girls from our church.

Brooke's moment of embarrassment as Mr L read out her part of the poem. This year, as there were so many students graduating, instead of making 22 individual poems, Mr L just made one long poem although he still managed to put each student on the spot. Brooke's poem read:
...
Brooke, we will now pay you the attention you enjoy
She is a young lass who will not let boys her annoy.
Made good progress, is keen to succeed
Is quite competitive, that much I will concede.

...

these are the graduates who will us today leave,
With many fine memories of what you have achieved.
May God continue to bless you on the path ahead,
Rest assured in His grace and mercy, He'll hold you in good stead.

This was the biggest class to graduate: 22 students!!

Instead of doing the graduation tree planting ceremony, the kids had made beautiful plaques, all Australian themed, to decorate the up and coming amphitheatre area.

On the same day Travis' class (the Kindies and Preprimaries) had their final class party, a clown party. They all came to school dressed as clowns and the teachers were fantastic looking clowns!!

Our happy little clown. The pants were from our dress-up box from way back when Cody dressed up as Obelix for book week. It's great when you can recycle!

The year ended on a very positive note. The kids all did really well with their report cards as well. Here's a few comments from their report cards:
Cody did very well, and received the Principal's Commendation for being committed to his learning and a positive approach. Wow, things sure changed from the year before!!! For music (he plays Saxaphone) there were also lots of positive comments. He has been a real boon for the saxaphone section this year...has impressed with his enthusiasm and desire to improve.
Wade is a very capable student with sound analytical skills. He generally applies himself well in classs but can rush to get his work finished quickly and skimp on detail. Basically, if he wants to achieve, Wade has no problem achieving, as his music comment says: It just goes to show that when he has decided that he wants to achieve, that he can really garner the results.
Jessica also did very well at school. Her comments reflect her effort she has put in to achieve the grades she got. Jessica has a good attitude towards her school work.
Meagan is a hard working student who has completed some good quality assessments. She works well independantly but still needs to ensure that she works cooperatively with others when in a group. Her flute playing has developed tremendously this year. The teachers have been impressed with her diligence and determination.
Brooke is well liked by her peers. She has great potential with an enquiring mind. Brooke is a fantastic (music) student and her clarinet skills will just continue to grow.
Brett has put great effort into all his work. He listens to a follows directions accurately and promptly - he can be very pedantic, although at home I wish I could say the same... He finished the year with a glowing report.
Travis is a hardworking student who always tries his best. He brings bundles of energy and happiness with him to school. The teacher also wrote: Travis, I love how thoughtful and caring you are to your friends. It has been a pleasure to have you in my class. I'll miss all your jokes and giggles next year! Isn't that just so sweet??

Well that's the end of another fantastic school year. May God continue to bless the schools and the children in 2010!
