Some News

On Friday I received a phone call from an ED doctor at PMH to let us know that most of Brett's blood tests had come back and one tested positive for Mycoplasma. Apparently it's a nasty little bacteria that can do all sorts of things and for Brett it has attacked his joints. The good thing is it's treatable with erythromycin; the bad thing is the doctor warned us that we're talking in weeks, not days before Brett gets better. In the meantime he's started his new antibiotic, and he is also on Naprosyn (a stronger form of Nurofen) to hopefully reduce his temperatures and help him to walk again. Well, today he seemed much better, although this morning he had a temperature of 38.6 but didn't seem too bothered by it. Tonight, however, he came crashing down again and his temp soared up to 40, and everything hurt. We're hoping all this medication will start to do something good but in the meantime we're waiting and seeing. Tomorrow we go back to the GP and on Tuesday we go to PMH for a rheumatology checkup. Hopefully by then we can get some more answers. In the meantime Brett has made himself quite comfy on the couch, and spends quite a bit of time playing with his Leapfrog globe he got. He now knows all his continents and oceans really well...I think he'll be working on his countries next...and then country capitals.... at least his geography isn't suffering!!
